The metaverse is an online interactive environment that replicates the physical world within a 3D virtual world. To get started, you'll need a laptop or desktop computer and an internet connection. Even some smartphones are capable of doing the job.

You could also invest in a virtual reality headset, too—but that’s by no means necessary at this current stage of adoption.

While you can access the metaverse without a headset, there’s no doubting the truly immersive experience that they provide. There’s plenty of options available, including the Oculus Quest 2, HTC Vive, and even PlayStation VR. 

Although purchasing a VR headset is entirely optional, you'll likely need to invest in a crypto wallet. These are available through various cryptocurrency platforms. These wallets allow you to store your virtual cash, such as Ethereum, and are especially important if you’re keen to buy digital metaverse land or any platform-bespoke items.

Before diving in, it’s advisable to pick one or two metaverse platforms to try first. This is a good way to see what the experience is like and how you can interact with other people in the digital world.
